Half back Aaron Brown sat in the tunnel before the game with an upset stomach, the result of starting his first game for the Detroit Lions. The change at running back is the result of a season ending "legendary" broken collarbone to star Frank Gore. During the pre-game interview, Brown remarked, "I just want to get out there and fit into the offense; I want to find my place on this team". The Lions, known for their hi-octane passing offense featuring star wide-out Calvin Johnson, were just hoping that Aaron Brown could give a solid performance to alleviate the team and fan's concerns regarding their backfield.

The game opened with a lot of fireworks as each team scored 14 points in the first quarter. Lions quarterback Carson Palmer drew first blood on a screen pass that led to RB Aaron Brown breaking out for an 86 yard touchdown. 49ers half back Ray Rice answered with a TD reception of his own to tie the game up at 7-7. Aaron Brown wasn't done though as he "Put the team on his back" with a 63 yard rush that can be seen here:

The quarter closed out with an 11 yard touchdown run from Ray Rice who was coming up big in this game. Quarter back Alex Smith the 49ers weren't going down easily. The team had a lot of fight left in them.

The second quarter belonged to the recently named 7th most feared player in 4thSL (props to Dr. Ken). Calvin Johnson made his presence felt with two TD receptions from Carson Palmer. The 49ers defense was intimidating as usual with Patrick Willis patrolling the field.

49er Sealii Davis made a splash early in the third quarter with his 56 yard TD grab from Alex Smith. The Lions offense and Carson Palmer responded with a huge 32 yard touchdown pass to Jerricho Cotchery that was almost picked off by a safety. Coach CitizenChad commented, "That was the game right there. We really needed to keep our momentum going." When asked about RB Aaron Brown, he had these remarks, "We were hoping he could fill in for Frank and give us what our offense needed. He did more than that today; I'm very happy with the result."

The 4th quarter was an exercise in field position. Possession swung back and forth between the teams. Time management became key to the Lions as they kept the ball mostly on the ground while being conservative in their play-call. The Lion's K. Rantis finished off a drive with a 43 yard field goal to add three more points to the board. The 49ers went into hurry-up mode on their last scoring drive and capped it off with a three yard TD from Ray Rice. A failed onside kick attempt in the final moments sealed the game's finish, 38-28. The Lions seemed pleased with what they saw from Aaron Brown and liked the way he got off to a quick start in his new role as starting running back.
