Week 15: Redskins Down Rams Empty Week 15: Redskins Down Rams

It was a matchup between two top offensive teams that lived up to its billing. The Redskins defeated the NFC West leading Rams 52-42, with the two juggernauts rolling up more than a 1000 yards between them.

Jonathan Stewart had 164 rushing and two scores, while Miles Austin added two scores of his own. Even Devin Thomas got into the act, racking up 100 yards receiving for the first time since Week 3.

"I'm alive? I'm alive!" Thomas could be heard yelling after the game.

The key moment came on a 3rd and 8 play in the second quarter. With the Rams leading 14-10, Ben Roethlisberger threw an out pass to Jerious Norwood that seemed destined to get picked off or worse. Instead, Norwood caught the pass, shrugged off a defender and rumbled 80 yards to the score.

On the next series, CD Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie stepped up with an interception on 3rd and 4 and took it all the way back for the score. The Redskins would never trail again en route to a 31 point 2nd quarter.

"There was just no way that I was gonna let Avery beat me," Rodgers-Cromartie said to reporters. "I mean, what's his overall? 72?"

The Redskins never slowed down, but the Rams still managed to threaten late after an untimely interception by Ben Roethlisberger. But after giving up 400 yards of offense, the defense came up big one last time. Peyton Manning heaved a pass deep to two Rams receivers near the endzone, but it was Al Harris who came away with his fourth pick of the year. On the next series, Jonathan Stewart rumbled for a 54-yard game that iced the game.

The Redskins next travel to Dallas to take on the division-leading Cowboys, who are coming off a huge win over the Falcons. They'll need another big win to stay on the fringe of the playoff race.
