Out of the Park Baseball 12!
I reviewed the game for GamePro, and I really, really like it. So much that I'm curious if others would be interested in starting an online league sometime.
I know, $40 is a lot to pony up on a game that's so unique and "out there" that you don't know if you'll really get your money's worth. If my review is any indicator (hint, hint: read it!), I think many of us that are in the Madden league and love fantasy football/baseball will go crazy over it.
We could start a fictional 4th String league, and players get to name their teams. There are so many possibilities, and I assure you, it's quite fun. I rarely go back to a game right after I review it (due to burn out), but I'm actually itching to play more.

Of course, I'm now noticing that my review is missing like five paragraphs at the end. Hope that gets fixed!

I question the realism of OOTP Baseball if Yuni is batting .356 for you (though if he was, his OBP better not be higher than .360 or I really cry foul).
Nice review though!

One funny thing: every time I tried trading Yuni, the other GMs would respond with "I'm not willing to trade for an overpriced veteran!" So true.
Re: Out of the Park Baseball 12!
As an update, the second page of the review is published now. Which is good, because that's where I mention some of the negative things about the game. TOUCHDOWN!

How would an online league work? I'm interested...but not $40 interested.

Having played the football manager games for well over 10 years, SI Games (same dudes as OOTP Baseball) make some killer games. OOTP was based on the databyse system that they use for FM, and this shit is crazy in-depth. As for statistical realism, I'm sure OOTP has ebbs and flows, just like FM does. In one game, I'm sure Jeter would be hitting .400, and in another .185 - it's the great thing about these games.
And if you have the time and the passion for the sport (soccer or baseball), then the value proposition of $40 for a game that you could sink easier 150+ hours into a single save game.
As for mulitplayer, you want to keep a game to 3 players max, if it's the sam as FM, because you need to put a lot of time into it.
Oh man, I really want to start a good Football Manager game though....
I wish I had the time.

150+ hours?
I posted a screenshot a while ago of my current FM game (that I havent played in ages).. Game time was 50 DAYS..
As regards to OOTP, I'd say this: Play the demo. Then play the demo again. And once more. If you are confident that you know the basic ins and outs, then you know you are in a position to get the uber amounts of good game time that the full version will give you.
personally SI games are epic value for money. Nothing like taking a small team and making them the greatest.
