Just gone final, Buccs vs. Falcon's
The Buccs staff knew how important it was to get going early. So facing
a 4th and 10 in field goal range on the opening drive the call came
in..."fake it" coach James said. "In our losses this year we had
stalled on our opening drives. I knew we had to get 7." And with that
rather than a 40 yard field goal attempt the Buccs Matt Moore rose from
his holding position and threw a 23 yard strike to Marion Barber. The
rest was history.
Long story short the Buccs seemed to feel that their D was doing decent
against the Falcon offense. The few times that Atlanta marched the ball
in to the red zone there would be a turnover, including a 80 yard
fumble recovery for touch down, that would seemingly deflate the Falcon
team.
With a halftime score of 28-0 the Buccs were in control. The third
quarter proved to be boring with Cadillac Williams running to try and
kill clock. The only score occered when Matt Ryan was hit in his own
end zone and subsequently picked off by left end Tim Crowder. In the
4th the Falcons scored what would be their only touchdown of the game on
a 12 yard screen pass to Michael Turner. The Falcons failed to convert
the 2 point conversion and the Buccs would tack on 2 field goals (41
and 54 yards).
When asked if the Buccs were back on track coach James responded "well,
we are 6 games (7 weeks) in to the season and still in the hunt for our
division. I don't feel great, but I feel ok about that. We have a lot
of work to do. I will say this though...I think we make life tough for Vegas. One week you'd think we are world beaters and the next week we lay an egg."
