Buccs dispose of Cards in 4thString season opener
A game that started out sluggish on both sides ended in a one sided affair leaving both teams saying one thing...what just happened?
"We had a bitter taste in our mouth from how last year ended" said Josh Freeman. Freeman passed for 2 touchdowns on the day including a 47 yard bomb to Josh "stealing toys from your babies" Cribbs. Cribbs received the winning game ball as he caught 2 balls for 94 yards and 1 TD to go along with 3 kick returns including a 97 yard touchdown which sparked the afternoon's pirate ship cannon blasts. Cribbs was quoted saying "it just felt good to get on the field again.
The game was highlighted by defense as midway through the 2nd quarter the score was 6-3, Buccs. The score was shortly tied at 6 all with 3:57 to go until halftime and then a scoring flurry began to end the first half. The Buccs scored 3 toughdowns in the final 3:46 to head to the locker room up 30-6. At that point the game was on cruise control as the Buccs chewed up the 3rd quarter running and converting 3rd down plays to eat up over 6 minutes before capping the drive with a fg.
The 4th was uneventful...so we will not discuss.
"We wanted to make a focus on our defense this offseason" said Buccs owner James. "We put an emphasis in being able to stop teams from driving all over the field on us. I can't say for sure if we corrected our problems, based on 1 game, but I like my results so far". Freeman finished by saying "well, it is week one and we are already a quarter of the way to our total victories last season".
