Raiders Season Update

Post by Judge Shredd on Mon Nov 21, 2011 5:44 pm

OAKLAND : While the Real Raiders have been enjoying a boost to their real life roster, the Scarf Raiders are heading into the last couple of weeks of the 4th String Scarf League at 7-7.

It's been an unusual feeling for Coach Ward this year after his 2-14 season with the Ravens in his inaugural season. Week 13 was a pretty Epic defensive match in Miami, where they managed to hold Binky Charles to 53 yards and pick off Brees 5 times, and hold the Phins to -13 yards passing winning 20v0 on the road. From the sunny Floridian climes, they entered the freezer in Green Bay, and they just aint used to the cold as Run DMC must of picked up something from Charles the game before and despite picking Rodgers twice, they lost out 35v10 on the back of a 1-2 TE/RB Doubles, the Davis / Finley and Spiller / Grant kept everything moving most of the day for the Pack.

Week 15 was a 'how'd I actually win this game' vs the Garydactyl Lions. The Lions beat the Raiders in all the O columns. The Raiders selected Receive after winning the toss on a laggy button option, having been sent back to the Roster Depth Screen after the FA fiasco problem. During that time, they noticed that Jacoby Ford was back on the depth chart having been sidelined for 11 weeks with a herniated DTD having been minced by the Patriots in week 4. First play from scrimmage, the Lions stacked the line expecting a hand off to Run DMC, however the Raiders had other plans, and a quick pass to Jacoby Ford seen him tear up the pitch for a 80 yard TD, what a welcome return for the speedster.

The Lions then got picked, 1 of 4 for Matt Stafford on the day; and it was a few handoffs to Run DMC making sure for the FG and the Raiders went 10v0 up. The Lions then got the ball back and kept it on the ground, taking it into the Raiders half, on a 3rd down however the Raiders D came up with a sack on Stafford taking the Lions out of FG range and they had to punt. The Raiders then had to punt themselves. Stafford was then again picked off inside his own half, and the Raiders handed the ball off to Run DMC to grind up a few yards to ensure they got into FG range.

13v0 up, the Lions got really mean, and marched the field to 16 yard line, the Raiders brought the house at the Lions on the 3rd down, and the Lions found a wide open Maurice Stovall in the middle of the pitch. 13v7 at the half with the Lions to get the ball back.

Lions took the opening drive the length of the field again, this time in the Red Zone, Chris Johnston came up with a pick in the End Zone giving the Raiders the ball back at their 20. The Raiders moved the ball on slightly before punting deep to the Lions, the 4th Quarter rolled around and the Lions kept the ball on the ground with Jahvid Best taking the ball home on a sweep or pitch, either or, he was round the corner and heading for the End Zone.

The Raiders were down for the first time in the match 14v13 with around 4 mins left, they done what they do best, they run the ball, and when Run DMC broke loose for 37 yards, it was then a time management game as the 2 minute warning came and went, the Lions called 2 of their Time Outs as the Raiders kept hammering the ball in the Red Zone looking for just the FG to win it. The Lions let up, looking to get the ball back with some time on the clock and Run DMC went in from 5 yards out, up 19v14, the Raiders knew they had to go for 2, but Run DMC was stuffed. The Raiders kicked off deep and the Lions took the touch back. Knowing the Lions had to cross the goal line, the Raiders went into prevent D. The first two plays went incomplete, on 3rd and 10, the Lions went deep to Megatron, who came down with the ball between 2 defenders on the Raiders 37, 54 seconds still to play, the Lions called hurry up, and then Raiders 2nd FS Hiriam Eugene got the game winning pick across the middle of the pitch.

Game over as the Raiders called a knee and run out the clock.

Megatron had 5 catches for 103 yards
Jahvid Best had 15 carries for 80 yards and a TD
Michael Leshoure had 3 carries for 41 yards

Run DMC had 21 carries for 94 yards and a TD

Raiders now finish the season against Divisional Rivals, next up the Chiefs followed quickly by the Dick Bae Bolts, with a Wild Card seemingly unlikely at this stage, it could well be abit of a run out for other players to see if they are worth there contracts....

More updates!
Terrelle Pryor throws 3 TD passes...... to KC Chefs D

So after the win against the Lions the Raiders wrung the changes for their game against the KC Cheffers, Terrelle Pryor started his first game of the season, and despite goin in at the half all even, threw it away in the 2nd half, including a 101 yard INT return.

Raiders GM decided that the Wild Card game was just too far out of reach and decided he would play some of his not so regular guys, including some contract wanting dudes and some rookies. Terrelle 'Richard' Pryor made his first start having seen some snaps this season, and he seemed to be passing pretty well, mostly to Chaz 'I want a new Contract' Schilens, who came away with over 130 yards and a TD. Taiwan Jones started at HB instead of Run DMC but was stuffed out alot by KC, Run DMC still got a couple of carries for 24 yards in the game.

The first half was a tense affair by both teams, punts were had and missed FG's. Chiefs went up 7v0 on a crossing pattern into the middle of the field, a missed tackle and it was a 80 yard TD or so. Raiders came back with a decent return and got a FG. Chefs then got a FG of their own, Raiders then drove and with a 18 mph tail wind went for a FG but it bounced off the post giving the Chefs the ball at almost midfield, a sack forced them back and they had to punt before Pryor made a decent drive, finding Schilens in the End Zone inside the final minute, all square then at 10 all.

Half time, Raiders were feeling pretty good, getting the ball back it didnt last long, 10 seconds later KC run in their first of 3 INT returned pick 6's. It happened almost immediately again, then Raiders got picked, but not for a TD, Michael Turner finished of the drive with an 18 yard TD. KC missed a FG but got another, and then in the final quarter they got the 101 yard return. Leaping LB of doom picked it, and rumbled right through the entire line, after the 3 broken tackles he was gone and it was game over.

Raiders now look to finish the season experimenting again, this time against the Chargers. Expect Pryor to start again, or at least take a few snaps. Doug Hayes the 42 yo rookie could well throw a pass or 2 also, he got his first snaps against the Chefs, including a 45 yard completion and a pick!
