WWF No Mercy on Virtual Console/WiiWare

Post by kevlarAK on Wed Feb 16, 2011 6:01 am

I had heard ages ago, that WWF No Mercy was being worked on and that it would come out on Virtual Console/WiiWare and would come with updated rosters. This is one of my all time favorite wrestling games. Does any1 have any inside knowledge on this?

I heard this too, but haven't heard anything since. I'm guessing it was just a rumor. If No Mercy wasn't so awesome, I probably would have never bought into it.

I am surprised Suszeck doesn't know more about this.

My friends and I keep our N64's around for the mandatory 4 player Royal Rumbles when we all get together.

Was pretty sweet on WCW/NWO Revenge also. Having Sting drop from the rafters into the ring was classic.

They were all great games, and still stand up today. I pull them out play them for a little bit quite often. Actually been meaning to do it again sometime soon.

If online multiplayer was possible in those games, I wouldn't need another game for a whole year.

This couldn't have been a very substantiated rumor, in my opinion. While some games get remade for WiiWare, PSN, and XBLA, it's clear that THQ focuses on retail releases even in their more arcade-style games. I can't imagine they'd make the money they'd need on a download service when using a hefty license like the WWE exclusively.

Plus, games brought onto the Virtual Console service are pretty stubbornly unchanged. Nor should they be, really. It's kind of a fantastic opportunity to archive gems of the past and re-live them, even if the pricing is iffy sometimes.

But I think SmackDown vs Raw is a great series anyways, so I'm happy with that. I can't wait to see All-Stars, but those looking to play a new game with tons of old wrestlers should check out Legends of WrestleMania. The controls are really simplified, but I totally dig that game, and it's got a pretty loaded roster.

I knew I saw this on 1up.com so I did a search and found the original post. I guess they got it from EGM back in 2007. It is a quarterman story, so who knows if it has been axed or not. I don't know any1 at THQ, so I can go no further as far as fact finding goes.

I'd imagine if anything were to come of it, it would have come out by now.
